Kickoff for the Wanda Diamond League 2025: Sportdeutschland.TV broadcasts all events for the first time - first meeting on April 26 in Xiamen
The premier class of athletics returns - and for the first time, Sportdeutschland.TV is right in the middle of it: On April 26, the Wanda Diamond League 2025 kicks off with the opening meeting in Xiamen, China. The online sports channel will broadcast all 15 meetings of the world-renowned series live and on demand - at least ten of them exclusively.

The live broadcasts will take place directly from the modern Sportdeutschland.TV studio. Two active top athletes will lead through the evening right from the opening meeting: Linn Kleine, middle and long-distance runner with international experience, and Catiana Pscherer, specialist in the 400m hurdles and active in top-class sport for many years. Both bring not only specialist knowledge, but also current perspectives directly from the world of active athletes - a closeness that inspires viewers.
As the season progresses, the team in front of the camera expands:
- Florian Weber– Sports journalist with a focus on athletics
- Max Thorwirth – active middle-distance runner and multiple German champion
- Niko Kappel – Paralympics winner and popular expert in para-athletics
- Maximilian Kluth – active long jumper and 400m runner
The team turns the Diamond League into a multimedia experience on all platforms - with first-hand analysis, background information and emotions.
World star and Laureus Awards winner Armand Duplantis in action
The world's best athletes compete in the Wanda Diamond League. Among them at the season opener: Armand Duplantis. The world record holder in the high jump and athletics superstar was named World Athlete of the Year at the Laureus Awards during the week and can be seen live on Sportdeutschland.TV on April 26.
The elite will also be competing in the high jump! Yaroslava Mahuchikh is the current world number one and one of the stars of the scene. Two German high jumpers will be competing against her: Christina Honsel and Imke Onnen. Mareike Steinacker completes the German trio at the start of the Wanda Diamond League season. The 33-year-old is currently ranked sixth in the world. High tension and top-class sport is guaranteed at the first meeting of the year in the Wanda Diamond League.
